Will and Jenni Engagements

Much of my Arizona family is in for the Thanksgiving holidays. We were so excited that, my brother, Will, brought his precious fiance, Jenni, for us to meet for the first time. We have fallen in love with her, just as the rest of the family has. So glad that the streets of Abilene, TX, are the location of these images. So much history of our family lives on these streets, my grandfather managed a dress shop across from the waterfall in the 1940's. Our grandparents, dad and uncle, used to visit the Paramount Theatre, seeing the first screening of what we would call classics today, that is when they could take their eyes off the mesmerizing sparkly stars and moving clouds on the inside roof of the Paramount. We can remember the sparkly sidewalks from when we were children coming to Abilene for a visit. There couldn't have been a more beautiful place, for two beautiful people, to walk along together letting the camera catch their hearts for each other. Love you both.

I met the Westbrook family at the State Park. Whitney chose great colors for the shoot, I love the red! We had a fun night, their twin boys are SO much fun. They had personalities that were such a hoot. So many wonderful pictures tonight, and I had to include some that made me smile. The boys are totally in sync with each other, I think the image where they had their arms up I asked them about Superman, and they both were ready to take to the sky. What a great family!! Kade and Konner at Home

One of my regular seasonal sittings that I look forward to the most is with the Frazier family. This year I went to their home to get some fun pics of Kade and Konner with all their cool John Deere Tractors and a couple of their horses. It was a great night for pictures and we had a blast with the experience of it all.

I know many people who would love to have a Dublin Dr. Pepper Machine out their barn door. Slightly jealous of this!

Kade and Konner are sitting on a restored John Deere lawn mower. This lawn mower belonged to their great-grandmother.

I love the look on Konner's face here, it is a battle of wills. The horse is trying to eat the grass in the yard, and this grass isn't good for the horse to eat. So Konner is doing his best to keep the horse from chowing down. Good job, Konner!!

I met Hayden at his house for his senior portraits. It was a great night for pictures and their home made the perfect place for his pictures. I grabbed a picture of Hayden, Hutton and Tamara. I have photographed Tamara many a times, here she is without make up and not prepared to have her pic made, but she graciously stepped in front of the camera at my request. I have never taken a more beautiful picture of Tamara, here she is with her two boys and she is in her element.Each time I look at this pic, I tear up, there is something special in the relationship between a mom her her sons. She is a blessing to her family and so many more. Tamara, thanks for being you.

Hallie was married earlier this summer to Colby, but timing with school and the rough terrain she had in mind for her bridals led her to decide to shoot them after the wedding. There are so many beautiful images, and even a guest appearance by a little fairy princess, her adorable twin brother and a cute little dog named Camo, that have made choosing images for the blog difficult to say the least. We started off by taking pics at Hallie's parent's home and then finished up out at her husband's family's ranch. Enjoy these images!

Hallie and Colby Wedding

Hallie and Colby were married last weekend out at his family's land, under the oak trees. The wedding was beautiful. Hallie and the girls got ready at the Hamby Church just down the street from the wedding. Click here to see the slideshow.

There were several signs along the way to help direct the guests to the location.

The location was ranch land. There were a couple of horses that mosy'd on over to say hi at their fence a couple of times. Electricity was brought in and Hallie's aunt brought in her family's travel trailer for the girls to finish getting ready in. Here is Hallie with her bridesmaids tying the back of her dress.

I love the back of Hallie's dress, and the wind in her veil here. This was the first glance moment between Hallie and Colby.

Hallie had kept it a secret until this very moment that she was wearing Colby's mom's veil. Colby's mom passed over to the other side, the best side, heaven, just a couple of years ago. There were several remembrances of her through the day, but the most touching to me was Hallie wearing her veil. In this exact moment Hallie is telling Colby that her veil was his mom's...he just closed his eyes, there were tears that followed, but this moment was so beautiful it is probably my most favorite picture of the day.

Lillian and Sloan - The Wedding Day

Lillian and Sloan were married at The Inn at Serenbe in Palmetto, Georgia. The day was full of beauty inserted into every detail. Lillian is currently a student at SCAD in Savannah. She is developing her craft of jewelry design and creation. She and all the women in her family have the gift of creativity. When you look at the designs and details in the following pictures just know that Lillian and Co. were the heart and soul of it all. Lillian and Sloan are full of hospitality and kindness, they are a couple that is easy to spend time with. Their spirits are full of grace and generosity that they willingly share with all around. It was a fantastic wedding and full of love, from the smallest detail to the venue itself, it was perfectly Lilly and Sloan.

Serenbe was a beautiful place to hold a wedding.

Here are their beautiful rings. Lillian not only designed Sloan's wedding band she made it herself.

Here are Lillian's accessories for her wedding day. She has exquisite taste and all these pieces worked perfectly with her dress.

I loved all the accessories but especially loved the necklace. Lillian chose the necklace, then found out it was discontinued. Her mother apparently can find a needle in a haystack, she located it on Ebay and it became Lillian's Christmas present from her mom and dad.

There is a story that goes along with this sign. For a week or two before the wedding, Lillian's dad with the help of her mom took pictures of Lillian's dogs who were placed in a Gator vehicle, with the sign hanging, posed as though they were making a run for Serenbe. They weren't going to miss Lilly's wedding, even if they had to drive themselves there. This sign was placed in the front driveway to welcome all the wedding guests.

Here is Lillian's wedding gown. I loved the shrug that she paired with the dress, the weather was so warm that she didn't need the shrug after all.

What can I say about these sisters. They are great friends and they make each other laugh. No one can laugh like Lillian's sister Lyndsey. This is one of my most favorite images from the day.

Lillian's mom attached Lillian's purity ring to the back of her necklace. This ring was given to Lillian by Sloan as a commitment to purity in their dating and engaged relationship.

I loved this old barn that was off the side of the road in the Serenbe Community. It was a beautiful backdrop to another wedding party image.

Here is an image I took during the wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and emotions were plentiful. When I post the slideshow within the next week you will get to see some of those emotions that were such a beautiful part of this holy matrimony.

The reception was on the same property. Just a small walk from the wedding site. We were able to get some great images along the way.

Meet Pearl and Pepper. Baby lambs who live at Serenbe.

The wedding cake was called a "naked cake," the layers were made up of pound cake, no frosting on the outside, just between each layer. The frosting was a praline butter-cream. It was several layers high. I loved the beautiful decorations of pearls and flowers at the top of the cake.

The gift from Lillian and Sloan for those in attendance was a self-serve coffee bean bar. There were three types of beans to choose from, the beans could be scooped into the burlap pouches. I have the Honduran coffee and we have been enjoying it all week.

Here is Lillian and Sloan's getaway ride. This night was the night of the supermoon. It lit up the roads and fields and looked so beautiful. What a blessing that was for Lillian and Sloan as they were on their hayride.

I was blessed to photograph Lillian and Sloan's wedding last weekend at The Inn at Serenbe right outside of Atlanta, Georgia last week. I will be posting wedding day images within the next couple of days. As a teaser I am posting a couple of images of Lillian and Sloan right after their rehearsal. Lillian and Sloan are precious in every way. They were so much fun to be around. Lillian, her sister Lyndsey, and Kendra their mom took several layers off of Kendra's wedding gown for Lilly to wear for her rehearsal. Lillian looks lovely in her mother's shortened gown. My sweet friend Amber and her family drove into Abilene this week to visit family. I was so blessed to see them today to take their pics. This is one beautiful family inside and out. And even though I don't need to say it...2 year old Ruby has an amazing smile and big gorgeous cheeks along with a personality that brings joy to all those around her. Last year I took Tara and Paul's wedding pics at the Wildcatter Ranch. One of the highlights of the wedding was that my family was invited to join in on the adventures at the Wildcatter Ranch. The highlight for the kids was traveling down to the longhorn cattle and feed them their breakfast. Here is one of the longhorns as he was meandering over to get a snack.

Here is another location within the same church as the candles from a couple of posts ago. This is the oldest church in San Miguel, Mexico. I am not sure where these stairs lead. I loved the mystery that these stairs represented to me.

I brought out some of the mystery I felt when I saw these stairs with some work in PS, and then I added a word to the bottom step. A word so freely given from God through Christ, but we have to take the first step to receive it. God doesn't push us up any stairs, he is the Gentleman waiting to bless us once we lift our foot to take the first step.

Sweet Celebrations

I bought a Groupon for Sweet Celebrations a month or so ago. We had company over tonight so I thought I would cash in my Groupon and have an easy dessert. I had heard the cupcakes were delicious, but was so excited to see how beautifully decorated they were. I had about ten minutes to spare tonight so I snapped some quick pics of them. They were as delicious as they were cute! Sweet Celebrations is located at 421 Pine St. and have many rotating cupcake flavors each day.

Here is another image that I took while in San Miguel, Mexico. This shrine was right off the sidewalk. I loved all the bright colors. I thought the combination of a traditional looking presentation along with the pink bike made for a great picture. I should probably add that I didn't want to call attention to myself when we were in many of the impoverished places our cruise ship traveled to, so instead of bringing my big girl camera I used my point and shoot. These images are taken with a Canon G9.

This time of year taking pictures is a scarcity for me. Cold weather, crunchy brown grass and red noses don't photograph well. This has been a season of respite for me. I have enjoyed my business's downtime and am rested and ready to take some beautiful pictures in the next coming months. Until then, I have twitchy fingers, my creative side loves to bring out my personal vision for an image I have taken. I look through my camera to see what is often a visual story. With the magic of Photoshop I can bring to life the mood of what was in my head when I released the shutter. Here is an image that I took in the oldest church in the town of San Miguel, Mexico a couple of months ago. I took many images that day, but I have a soft place in my heart for the young mother of Christ. Mother Mary who when faced with an angel who told her she would have a child, she said some very powerful words that inspire me every day. "May it be to me as you will".

Traveling Mercies

I was cc'd in on a string of emails this week thanks to my friend at the APD, Mr. Mike ; ) There was an artist/organizer who is planning to present an art show in Abilene with the proceeds to benefit Love and Care Ministries. Some of the folks that benefit from those organizations in a daily way came to enjoy a hot breakfast, some new to them jackets, an interview by one of my favorite local writers and their own personal photo shoot. I was blessed to be able to volunteer time today taking pictures of some great faces and making some new friends. Some of these faces have lived in Abilene their whole life, some are traveling through. May God grant each of these lives traveling mercies that only He can provide. I am thankful for the opportunities my camera allows me to be a part of. Out of the 400 pictures I took this morning I found a couple that I will post here to share, but I am looking forward to the real event when all is set.

I look forward to the annual Krake Family Christmas Pictures every year. They are a sweet group and fun to be around. Jonathan's sister joined us for some pics at the end which was such a blessing! Matthew's Senior Portraits

I met Matthew for a super quick sitting before the football game on Friday. He is an awesome young man, and will head to college next year to pursue learning to be an architect. He has a brilliant mind and a creative eye, so I am sure he will be designing fabulous structures. We talked about his experience in Denver when he went with the youth group to spend time with Dry Bones Ministry. Thanks Matthew for letting me take your pictures!!

Melissa and Cody!!

I took pics of Melissa and Cody along with their children a.k.a. the dogs this weekend at the State Park. We had a great time and the dogs loved being at the park, between the deer and armadillo there were smells everywhere that kept them ready for the next adventure. The Cranfill Family

I met the Cranfill's out at the State Park this week for family pictures. I think we had a sitting scheduled for last year, but illness or weather got in the way, can't remember exactly. Then at the APAC Showcase I had donated a sitting to be bid on to benefit APAC. The Cranfill's bid on the sitting and won, I was so excited, and I know APAC was too!! (Abilene Performing Art's Company) It was a blessing to have David's mom, Pat, be a part of the sitting. She is one amazing woman! Pat, David and Stephanie are incredible examples of Christ living in them, in their actions and compassion for others. I was incredibly blessed to take their pictures. Laney is 1!!

I met this sweet group on Friday out at the State Park. We were SO blessed by the weather, it had been iffy all day long, and then it cleared up and the wind died down and we were so thankful. Little Laney celebrated her 1st birthday this week, she enjoyed being out at the State Park. Lauren and her boyfriend, Zac drove in from Tech for Laney's party this weekend, I know the family enjoyed being together. To see a slideshow of all the proofs click here.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

My husband works at DRI (Disability Resources Inc.) and during the month of October DRI hosts a wonderful pumpkin patch. It is full of the most beautiful pumpkins you will ever see, along with the most odd looking pumpkins I have ever seen. There is something for everyone there. My family had volunteered to go out and help with the pumpkin patch on a couple of Thursday night's this month. I mentioned this on Facebook at about noon on Thursday that we were headed up there that night. One of my friends asked if I was going to bring my camera...that got me thinking, how fun would it be to bring my camera and take pics! So that afternoon, late notice, I announced on Facebook that I would be up at the Pumpkin Patch with camera in hand and would take pics of all who came and purchased a pumpkin or two. I think it was a hit as several people saw the post and headed to the magical place of pumpkins and special "folks." If I took your pictures then you can email/facebook me (tammy@marcelainphotography.com)or leave a comment below with your email address and I will send you the gallery address. I felt a little weird putting other people's pics on a public gallery that anyone could download, so for privacy reasons decided it was best to send out the info to you directly rather than have a link for all to click on. I will keep this gallery up for a week, so be sure to grab whatever you want in the next week. The pics are in color of course but for the purpose of my blog I had fun using a new "tweak" I have for my post here. The pics that you can download are high resolution, however the pics here on my blog are low res, so these wont print well.

Tara and Paul Wedding Day at The Wildcatter Ranch

Tara and Paul were married the 28th of August at the Wildcatter Ranch in Graham, Tx.
It was a beautiful wedding. I was so blessed to be there to photograph such a holy and special day. The band for the wedding is called Lariat, and includes Tara's dad and two brothers, they are so much fun to listen to. The brother's had a lot of fun with the microphone's in their hands being the big brother's to the bride. It was a special night all around. Here are some of my favorites from the day. I met the Pursley's at ACU this past weekend to take some family portraits. They were a delight. It was a fun morning and full of activity. Last Friday we all drove out to Colby's family's ranch about an hour out of town to take Hallie and Colby's engagement pictures. It was a dream location and we enjoyed the natural beauty all around. Colby and Hallie are precious together, little did they know when sitting across the aisle at church when they were young tikes, that one day they would be betrothed. Gentry is 8 months old so that means it has been about 7 months too long since I took her picture. She is amazingly sweet, I in fact don't think she has ever cried and is an angel sent straight down from heaven to give us a little glimpse of the beauty above. She is precious in every way.
